Arctic Adventure: My Life in The Frozen North, Peter Freuchen
This book was written in 1935 by explorer and adventurer Peter Freuchen who spent several years in Northern Greenland amongst the native people on a mission with partner Knud Rasmussen to claim the northern part of Iceland as Danish territory. They also led five expeditions from Thule, under the Arctic Circle, as far as Hudson Bay.The book is very readable and hooked me after only reading a few pages. It is chock full of amazing photographs and anecdotes culled from the natives themselves. The condition of the book is good, there is wear on the top and bottom of the spine. The spine is intact, but a bit loose with a small separation of the front cover hinge. The text is great with a little yellowing of the text block. A rare and fascinating book. 467 pops.,No dust jacket. Freuchen in later life worked with the Danish underground against the Nazis, was once described as one of the most interesting men in the world, worked and acted in a MGM movie based on one of his other books and married a famous model who was on the cover of Vogue.
